Mina (Asimina) Gaga
Deputy Minister of Health
Dr Mina Gkagka (MD, PhD) received her medical degree and PhD from the University of Athens. She specialized in Pulmonology at the Pulmonology Clinic of the University of Athens, and later received additional training in Allergology and Clinical Immunology at Imperial College and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
Dr Gkagka has served as Assistant Professor at the University of Athens, and as Director of the 7th Pulmonology Clinic and the Asthma Center at G.N.N.TH.A. “Salvation,” where she also served as Director of the hospital’s Medical Service. She has held several leadership positions, including General Secretary and President of the European Pulmonology Society, Secretary of the European Accreditation Council in Pulmonology (ESDP), and Advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr Gkagka has been involved in numerous clinical trials as a principal investigator, and has contributed to the development of guidelines for asthma and lung cancer. She has published extensively on these topics.
On August 31, 2021, Dr Gkagka was appointed Deputy Minister of Health.
